Our Story

On 13 August 2015 School Start First Impressions gifted the first 5 Kitbox. The 5 Kitbox helped the child’s family and the school cement a strong relationship.

Then the first referral was made from a SENCO working with a wee man who was transitioning to Pukekohe Hill School who had learning disabilities.

Our subsequent referrals came through Well Child providers, Family Start Manukau, Te Nuinga Trust and ECE operators such as Te Hononga Puna Reo in Pukekohe. We acknowledge these first referrers for their support and they all continue to partner with us today.

First we started with a $10,000 donation kindly provided by the Thomas Family Trust into the Addenbrooke Foundation which funded a Pilot Project.

Our artwork was designed by the then 8 year old grandnieces Amelia and Lucy Sparrow , family of Graeme & Jane (trustees) and is an integral part of the School Start First Impressions brand.

SSFI was the first initiative of Addenbrooke Foundation. In September of 2019 Addenbrooke Foundation was renamed to School Start First Impressions.
